What is Self-Compassion?
Self-compassion involves treating ourselves with kindness, understanding, and acceptance, just as we would a dear friend.
When we practice self-compassion, we take advantage of one of the most powerful ways to nurture our mental and emotional well-being.
It is completely within our control to work towards a mindset that defaults to self-kindness vs a mindset that defaults to negative self-talk and harsh criticism.
By embracing our inner coach vs. our inner critic, and by incorporating self-compassion into our daily lives, we can enhance our resilience, improve our self-esteem, cultivate a healthy relationship with ourselves, and improve our relationships with others.

9 Effective Ways to Practice Self-Compassion in Daily Life
There are many effective ways to practice self-compassion and foster a compassionate, positive, learning, growth mindset in our day-to-day lives.
1. Mindful Self-Awareness
Start by cultivating mindful self-awareness, which involves paying attention to your thoughts, emotions, and sensations without judgment.
Notice when you’re being self-critical or engaging in negative self-talk.
As you become more aware, gently redirect your focus to a compassionate and understanding perspective.
Remember that everyone faces challenges and experiences imperfections.
2. Practice Self-Compassion Through Self-Kindness
Treat yourself with kindness and compassion, particularly during difficult times.
Instead of berating yourself for perceived failures or mistakes, offer yourself words of encouragement, support, and understanding.
